Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At age 27, he entered the National Theatre School of Denmark from which he was graduated in the year 1995. Apart from his role in the drama series The Killing which he was a part of, he also appeared on Borgen III, a Danish drama series. He also had a leading role in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American TV show House of Cards, he played the role of the president of Russia. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his part in the Danish TV drama Herrens Veje, which was shown in the UK in 2019 as Ride in the Storm.In addition to his native Danish, Mikkelsen speaks fluent Swedish, German and English, and he has mastered various accents. He said that his brother and he began learning English through listening to and studying the Monty Python songs.
